Den of the Fallen

from Reborn in Darkness by Skeptik

/

lyrics

A parasitic void is hiding parallel realities
Subconsciously we all retreat for we can feel the echoes
Of a labyrinth, tenebrous, where breathing is a burden
For the strain of the indigenous, ubiquitous Demonculi
In the realm, where they dwell
They can look through the well
And the door to our world
Lures them to invade
Centuries ago, predating documented history
The unendurable temptation lead into a battle
Which inevitably resulted in embarrassing defeat
Now they patiently await the day
When they can grow to rise again

Deep in the inter-dimensional sanctum
Is the den of the fallen
Caught in the tides of the passageway
Keep an eye for the demonculi

There was a contract made upon the victory of humankind
Including the unlimited, continuing surveillance
Of the province and domain of the iniquitous Demonculi
As they returned to their dimension following their failure
Over years, memories
of the wars seemed to fade
Until the world did forget,
losing all interest
Still the unrelenting planet offered only suffering
With rain that fell like splinters, and all liquid tastes like rotting fish
Factors that compelled them to continue to rebuild their forces
Longing for the day when they are strong enough to rise again

Deep in the inter-dimensional sanctum
Is the den of the fallen
Caught in the tides of the passageway
Keep an eye for the demonculi

Now the time is nigh as they prepare to cross the barrier
Gathered in formation with their weaponry and numbers fair
Opening and charging as they entered into foreign air
Nothing could stop them from venturing forth

Clashing of the titans of a miniature terror squad
Humankind alerted to their threatening approach
And the borders of their territories came to meet in battlefield
Culminating tensions a millennium encroached
In the scorching heat of desert climate, confrontation erupted
And the dirt & soot became a cloak that covered all the letting blood
Hours passed and daylight faded giving into night
As the dust began to settle and the silence fell again

Deep in the inter-dimensional sanctum
Is the den of the fallen
Caught in the tides of the passageway
Keep an eye for the demonculi
